Applications of Embodied Movement and Awareness

Applications of Embodied Movement and Awareness

Aquanimous Yoga is a method of embodied learning through dynamic stability and somatic mindfulness. Our approach combines interoceptive awareness and mindful movement on the SUP to empower whole-person discovery and healing.

The AY Practice delves into the physiological experience of yoga, examining the sensations in soft tissue, skeletal structure, fluids, and space throughout the practice. Practitioners are guided through a progression of these sensations, leading them to a profound understanding that transcends the physical practice.

By tapping into a deeper sense of ‘feeling’, AY Practitioners unlock an inherent physical wisdom. This involves combining anatomical visualization and imagination, cultivating awareness through movement, and managing sensations effectively.

Central to the AY Practice is refining and utilizing the practitioner’s core experience to unlock deeper insights. Practitioners are encouraged to explore obstacles hindering a more profound practice and are guided through common barriers that obstruct sensory pathways.

The way we move (or not) on the SUP reveals these barriers including conditioning, habitual patterns, trauma, anxiety, extraneous thoughts, and the impact of technique and methodology on learning. Practitioners will also grasp the fundamentals of mechanical freedom in postures and movement.

Viewing the body as the doorway into deeper self-awareness and self-understanding, the AY Practice encourages practitioners to transcend traditional approaches and dig deeply and equanimously into themselves to unearth the unconditioned, neutral body at its most profound level.

Cultivate interoceptive awareness and compassionately repattern habits of breath, posture, movement, and mind to empower personal agency and resiliency, and foster a harmonious balance of mind and body for overall well-being.

If you are interested in adding this new dimension to your practice then Aquanimous Yoga is for you.
