AQUANIMOUS SUP YOGA RETREAT: BOHOL, February 23-25, 2018

AQUANIMOUS SUP YOGA RETREAT: BOHOL, February 23-25, 2018

People call it, “God’s little paradise.” This island is very rich in bio-diversity. It is known to be the home of the smallest primate in the world, the Philippine Tarsier, and the mysterious formation of hills that turn into a chocolate color during the dry season, thus the name Chocolate Hills. It also cradles the tourist islands of Panglao and Balicasag, which is famous for diving with a hefty school of jack fish.

There is another gem in Bohol that remains low-key and the perfect place to learn SUP. The Loboc River is one of the most beautiful in the Philippines. Its distinct jewel-like-jade color on a sunny day and calm waters where a waterfall can be found and ends in the sea makes this a perfect destination for SUP Yoga.

Unwind and enrich your spirit with daily sunrise SUP Yoga & sunset MAT Yoga classes, SUP lessons, firefly SUP Tour, and countryside tour of the Chocolate Hills and tarsiers. Nourish and balance your mind and body with healthy and nutritious meals & drinks. Relax and heal with guided meditations and pranayama. Cultivate new friendships and commune with like-minded souls in a safe, relaxed and rejuvenating environment.

ACTIVITIES:

1) Sunrise SUP Yoga

a) SUP Yoga EXPLORE (SUP Yoga basics) – Introduction to Stand Up Paddleboarding and SUP Yoga that tackles water safety, SUP equipment and handling, how to properly get on and off the board, transitioning to your feet, finding balance and center of gravity, and introduction to Tristana. A gentle SUP Yoga flow follows.

b) SUP Yoga CONNECT (Hatha Yoga) – In this practice, we direct our awareness to the physical structure of the asanas and how they affect our body. Aside from focusing on proper form, alignment, muscle activation and modifications, developing body awareness helps us work within our truth levels to avoid injuries.

c) SUP Yoga FLOW (Vinyasa Yoga) – A dynamic practice where the focus is on aligning our breath and spiritual intention with movement. We look at asanas as Pranic energy and direct the breath to observe how it affects our energetic body as we flow into different asanas.

2) Sunset MAT Yoga

a) Yin-Insight Yoga – A combined discipline of Yoga, Buddhism and Taoism, this class is designed to identify, open and strengthen the various physical and psychological components of one’s experience – fostering a kinder, clearer and altogether healthier and more mature relationship to one’s self and others.
This class inspires this psychospiritual transformation through passive (Yin) and active (Yang) yoga postures combined with breathing practices, visualization, mindfulness meditation, self-inquiry and dialogue, and extended periods of silence.

b) Yoga Nidra (Healing Your Body) – This guided meditation is about making friends with yourself, with your body and also with your mind. You will become aware of how your mind, its thoughts and feelings, express themselves through your body. Pain, diseases, addictions (eating too much, alcohol, sugar, etc..) will be dealt with and can be healed. It is a chance to mobilize your self-healing energies and to relax deeply within yourself.

3) Firefly SUP Tour

As the night unfolds, a magical place comes alive. Hundreds of fireflies light up their home tree which is called the Mother Tree. The only way to see the Mother Tree is by paddleboarding your way in the river. Our Firefly SUP Tour takes you on this special adventure in the night. This tour usually takes about 2 hours of leisure paddling in the calm waters of Loboc River.

4) Countryside Tour of Bohol

When in Bohol, one must definitely see the spectacular and enigmatic Chocolate Hills. The viewing point is about an hour from Loboc and along the way, we will visit the Hanging Bridge, Man-made Forest and Tarsier Sanctuary where the smallest primate in the world can be seen in their natural habitat.

5) Walking Meditation

In walking meditation we use the experience of walking as our focus. We become mindful of our experience and the environment while walking, and try to keep our awareness involved with the experience of walking. This is also a very good practice that can be fitted in to the gaps in our lives quite easily. Even walking from the car into the supermarket can be an opportunity for a minute’s walking meditation.

6) Journaling

Keeping a journal is a great way to build better habits, as it forces us to be aware of our actions and behaviors. If you’re looking to watch what you eat, keeping a food diary is a great way to stay paying closer attention—one that’s been proven to help people eat more healthfully. Similarly, just writing down positive things that happened to you or tracking your mood can help you identify good patterns in your life that are repeatable that you should make time for—not to mention things that make you feel bad or throw you off your game that should be eliminated.
