ABOUT US

THE WAY IN IS THROUGH SENSATION:

RECONNECTING THE BODY, HEART, MIND, AND SOUL

The goal of yoga is yoga itself. Union itself of the separate, egoic self and the Real Self. It is a process of Self-realization through awareness and direct experience of the core of our beingAs humans, we are manifesting outward, step by step, from our Real Self to the outer world, where the subtler consciousness projects evermore outward that we forget those subtler levels, leading to feelings of disconnection. This disconnection can negatively impact our health and well-being, our relationships, and how we treat the world.

To restore balance, it is crucial to rediscover yoga’s ancient purpose – to remind us of our potential, our shared humanity, and what binds us together. We do this by reconnecting with our physical selves through sensation, and acknowledging both our internal and external experiences as a whole.

Aquanimous Yoga focuses on this holistic and somatic approach.

OUR INTENTION

It is our intention to introduce an embodied approach to movement that lays a strong foundation for our AY Practice. Through our dynamic stability practices on the stand-up paddleboards & stability boards, we delve into a deeper understanding of ‘neutral body, equanimous mind’ to discover our ability to function from a position of profound strength and inner authority. This connection leads to a more embodied and empowered integration of experiences that aids in transcending our habitual patterns, and nurtures a deeper and richer sense of agency, wholeness, and well-being.

WHY THE SUP?
  • Through dynamic stability, we build a structurally sound, resilient and adaptable core. This has a profound effect on our mental and emotional state, as well as our ability to function in the world.

  • Practicing on a constantly moving board provides variability and sharpens our somatic awareness, encouraging exploration of movement and adaptability. Through this implicit learning, we enhance our understanding of our bodies, resulting in richer experiences. This allows us to fully embody form and function in multiple dimensions: physical, energetic, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

OUR PRINCIPLES OF PRACTICE

As a somatic practice, we use the body as a tool for reconnection. Through sensations, we explore the relationship between our physical being and our energy (thoughts, emotions, and actions) while being guided by these AY Principles.

OUR APPROACH

We consist of a myriad of interconnecting cores energetically resonant with one another and with the bigger picture. Personal consciousness is a radiant core, connecting us to a wider field. Although these realms are innately interdependent—meaning they develop simultaneously—our approach begins with what is most concrete, working towards the ever more refined.

OUR CORE VALUES

Truth, radical self-acceptance, loving awareness, equanimity, and compassion are essential and beautiful qualities for a mindful and embodied life. While each of these qualities on its own can have a big impact, the combination of them is a powerful recipe for wholeness and connection.
